I want my kids to have friends...
...but I also know that they will have stupendously wonderful and original names. A friend of mine sent me the picture from PostSecret, a website I actually check weekly. I save the secrets that I like/ relate to in imgfave. So my names. I'm not looking to have children in the very near future, but when I do, I want a few of them. I lost my sister when I was 14, and have been an only child since then. I want 3 or 4. With cool names. All with Downing in there somewhere because I am, sadly, the last one. So here we go...
Dakota Greer- after the A Rocket To The Moon song
Mattyleigh (LEE, NOT LAY) after my Uncle Matt and my sister's middle name
Daveighjae (Davy Jay) after my grandfather and uncle/ godfather
Simba (it means Lion in Swahili. My grandma called me Carolion)
annnnnd in case I have a boring husband Christopher James
that's it. what do you think? xx

I gave up YouTube for Lent
I feel like that's a statement to my generation. I LOVE YouTube. My bestiebest in Phi Sigma Sigma (let's call her G because she probably wouldn't want me blogging about her) told me I should give it up. And I keep failing. I also gave up pizza to fall back on. But anyway- YouTube. It's now where I get most of my music, and I'm not just talking about illegally downloading Justin Beiber. I have fallen for some of YouTube's biggest stars who are not becoming famous because of their rich fathers or because of who they know. They have TALENT. LOTS of talent. I think my love of YouTube started with The Philip DeFranco Show. He's hilarious, yet he does the news. I have convinced a couple of my profs to show his videos in class, and I don't think they're all that impressed. The whole music thing started because, well, I like music. I guess that's the most basic reason. I started searching for mashups and covers and recently I discovered two guys that I think deserve a lot of credit: Ricky Ficarelli and Tyler Ward. Actually, the video on the post is Ricky, covering my all-time fave YouTuber, Dave Days. The kid is adorable and so talented. We've even spoke about possibly getting together so I could make a documentary about him as a rising YouTube star. I mean, WATCH Ricky play drums. It enough to make you smile, but then you realize he's a better drummer than most of the bands out there. Anyway, that's how I feel about YouTube. Go check out the people I linked. You won't be sorry. If you have any other suggestions for me, I'd love to know about them.

Skins Deep
I know I literally just posted a blog but now that I've gotten the introduction and why I'm blogging somewhat down, I actually have things to say. Let me tell you about one of my guilty pleasures: Skins. Not the new, horrible show on MTV that I plan to watch at some point (maybe), but the amazing, beautifully done British original that makes me cry almost every episode. I have a theory that I love it so much more than the American version because the kids are British. When they go to underground raves and have run-ins with coke pushing gang leaders, I just think "Oh those crazy Brits." But when they get into the same sort of trouble on the American version it's just like... "psh that is NOT real life." I think my favorite character is Effy, played by Kaya Scodelario. She's gorgeous and mysterious and troubled. I like to think that every woman has a little Effy in them. If you have Netflix, I would highly suggest you start watching this show. Maybe I'll meet my own cast of Skins if (when, knock on wood) I get into Oxford's study of Film Aesthetics Program. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Grown Man Meets College Student or...
Boy Meets World. Hm. So here's the thing- I found a picture of Rider Strong on imgfave of him as Shawn from Boy Meets World. It's cute and the caption is something that I would say. As someone who crushed on him in elementary school, I naturally googled. Is that creepy? I guess it comes naturally being a teenage heartthrob. As it turns out, he's doing what I want to be doing, film. And blogging about it. So I decided to start another blog. This one isn't for class. This is for me. I'm on my spring break and I feel like writing. Let's see how long this lasts.
